So Tell Me, Do You Wanna Go?

Thad's Weekly Thoughts (Week Eight) “It's everything you ever want. It's everything you ever need, and it's here right in front of you. This is where you wanna be.” Let’s talk about The Greatest Showman, again. The movie opens with what I believe to be one of, if not...

This Is Me

Thad's Weekly Thoughts (Week Seven) I really like The Greatest Showman. I love the music and the storyline. However, what stands out to me the most about the movie is one of the lessons that can be taken away from a few of its characters. One of the major themes...

Look Around You

Thad's Weekly Thoughts (Week Six) Job 12:7-9 Lexham English Bible (LEB) “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, and the birds of the heaven, and they will tell you; or ask the earth, and it will teach you, and the fishes of the sea will declare to you. Who...

Even If…

Thad's Weekly Thoughts (Week Five) In Daniel chapter 3 we read an account of 3 men named Shadrach, Meshach, and Adednego whose real names were Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah who are central characters in a story many of us grew up hearing about in Sunday school....

Mr. Incredible

Thad's Weekly Thoughts (Week Four) 14 years ago Disney created a movie that I love very much called “The Incredibles”. I loved this movie, but thanks to Disney I have spent the last 14 years in a torment of not knowing what happened after the Incredible family came...

Just One Man

Thad's Weekly Thoughts (Week Three) The bloodthirsty mob was giddy with excitement as the gladiators spilled their blood in the arena. For hundreds of years, the Roman population had been educating cruelty by these vicious games and it seemed that the nation no longer...

How to Eat the Bible

How to Eat the Bible I love to eat. There is no doubt that when I wake up in the morning that the first thing on my mind is what I’m going to be eating that day. There is something about food that creates a little excitement in me.  I love burritos, tacos, sushi,...

Clean Feet

Thad's Weekly Thoughts (Week One) Feet are gross. They are funny looking sometimes and for some reason they can smell REALLY bad at times. They aren’t exactly something you would want to get up close and personal with, especially if they are feet that belong to...

Goodbye 2016 – Hello 2017

Goodbye 2016 - Hello 2017 And just like that, 2016 is coming to a close. Sammantha and I have enjoyed this past year, and we hope it has been a good year for you and your family as well. This year has been a year of growth within our youth group. I feel as though our...

Senior Year Goals – 5

The calendar year is coming to an end and the holidays are here. Next calendar year, your baby is graduating. This is an exciting time and one that is probably also filled with some anxieties. Keep up the good work that you are doing and keep pouring into their lives. This month the goal is for you to have a conversation that is not easy to have, but is needed. While having this conversation early may be awkward, having these late, or avoided all together, can open them to hurt.

Senior Year Goals – 4

This week we are talking about how to do budgeting effectively and further solidify identifying their gifts in life. Keep positive and the motivation coming. By now I would bet that your student is “convinced” they have senioritis. Keep pivoting them into the right frame of mind and don’t lose heart. As always, if there is anything I can do to help, please reach out to me.

New Self-Worth (InfoGraphic)

I have been working through the God’s Love Bank curriculum with the high schoolers since the end of summer and it has been going well. We have just wrapped up Octobers Core Value of New Self-Worth and I put together an infographic to help you, as a home leaders, build self worth in other people.

Senior Year Goals – 3

Here are this month’s Senior Goals for your student to be ready to face life outside of your home. This week we are talking about how to do laundry and identifying their gifts in life. By now we are solid into Senior year and I hope all is going well. As always, if there is anything I can do to help, please reach out to me.

Senior Year Goals – 2

Senior Year Goal - 2   Goal 1: Know How to shop for Groceries Last month you cooked and this month we want to make sure all seniors know how to get those items from the store to the pantry. This is more of an exposure exercise than a shopping one. The grocery store...

Senior Year Goals – 1

Senior Year Goal - 1   Goal  1: Know some basic cooking. Can they cook basic meals, as in boil or fry eggs, make spaghetti, make hamburgers or other favorite foods? Can they brew a cup (or pot) of coffee or tea? If they do not do these already, practice this month. If...

Senior Year Goals

The time has finally come for your baby to dawn a cap and gown and graduate. Looking back at the Kindergarten child you raised, they sure have come a long way but, they still have a long way to go! Oh the places they will go and the things they will do will be wonderful. To you, kudos for getting them this far! While they make it through their senior year I want to encourage you to continue to prepare them for the life that is ahead.

Forming New-Self Image (Infographic)

The family unit has a significant impact on how an individual will identify who they are. In getting older, each person figures out what their strengths are, what defines their character, and how they feel in relation to their community. In shaping their view of...

JOLT Youth Group Beach Dress Code Changes

JOLT Youth Group Beach Dress Code Changes I would like to revisit the dress code standards for the youth group. With the beach trip coming up on Saturday it has been on my mind and in conversation with Sammantha I would like to make some changes to what standard we...
